The winged victory of Samothrace (best known as Nike of Samothrace) is an hellenistic sculpture made of marble, created around the 2nd century b.C. and now displayed on the Louvre Museum in Paris. It’s one of the most famous sculptures in the world, created in honor of the goddess of the victory and to celebrate a sea battle. The author is unknown, as well as which battle is this statue dedicated to.
